Formica obscuripes queen ants for sale!
Formica obscuripes is a large, visually striking ant native to southern most of Canada, known for building large mounds made from pine needles, and other foliage. These ants are fast, aggressive, and highly active foragers. Colonies grow quickly and exhibit complex, trail based foraging behaviors, making them a rewarding species for antkeepers who enjoy visible, dynamic colonies.
This species is a temporary social parasite, meaning queens require a host species to successfully establish a colony. All queens sold here come from already existing super colonies with biological worker or host workers, eliminating the need to introduce host pupae yourself. In other words everything is taken care of :D
